Fabrication Logistics & Sequenced Delivery in Ontario
Fabrication logistics and sequenced delivery at WeFab move finished steel from the Leamington, Ontario shop to your site on an owned fleet, loaded in the order your crew will set it.
Coordinated shipping, handling, and project logistics keep materials moving efficiently from our facility to the jobsite. Whether shipping individual components or complete structural assemblies, we plan each delivery to help protect finished products and keep projects on schedule.
Working closely with production and project teams, we coordinate loading, transportation, and delivery requirements to reduce unnecessary handling and simplify project execution. From local deliveries to large commercial and industrial projects, our logistics process helps ensure materials arrive safely, efficiently, and ready for installation.
What We Coordinate Between the Shop and Your Site
WeFab coordinates shipping, handling, and project logistics for the steel it fabricates, planning each load to reduce handling, protect finished product, and arrive in the order the site crane needs it, using its own trucks, trailers, and loading equipment.
- Sequenced load-out: members are grouped by erection sequence, not by when they came off the weld table
- Owned trucking: 4 tractors pulling flatbed and step-deck trailers, plus a stake truck for smaller deliveries
- Load planning: the team builds each load to limit re-handling and protect finished surfaces and connections
- Piece-mark coordination: marks and load lists are coordinated with QC when a project needs them tied to erection drawings
- Staging: a 70,000 sq ft staging yard holds completed steel until its shipment is due
When a site’s laydown area can only take one sequence at a time, completed steel waits in the Leamington yard and ships when the next sequence is ready. Shipment grouping starts upstream in Project-Ready Coordination, where drafting groups members by install order.

Sequenced delivery: shipping fabricated steel in the order it will be erected, so each load carries the pieces for the next lifts. It cuts double-handling at the site and keeps the crane setting steel instead of waiting while crews search a laydown area.
Step-deck trailer: a flatbed with a lower rear deck that carries taller loads than a standard flatbed. It gives tall assemblies and frames more headroom on the road, which can reduce how often a load needs oversize handling.
How Our Fabrication Logistics and Sequenced Delivery Process Works
Delivery at WeFab follows five steps: sequence planning from the erection drawings, piece marking coordinated with QC, staging in the 70,000 sq ft yard, crane and JCB load-out onto owned trucks, and a pre-shipment call with the site when requested.
Step 1: Plan the shipment sequence
Members are grouped into shipments that match the site’s erection order, with each load planned to reduce handling.
Step 2: Mark and list the pieces
Members are dot-peen marked for identification when the project calls for it. When a project needs piece marks and load lists tied directly to erection drawings, that is coordinated with QC before release.
Step 3: Stage completed steel
Finished pieces are held by sequence in the 70,000 sq ft staging yard until the site is ready.
Step 4: Load out
The 88,000 lb overhead bridge crane and 2 yard JCBs load steel onto WeFab’s own flatbed, step-deck, or stake-truck equipment.
Step 5: Coordinate with the site and deliver
A pre-shipment call with your site team is available on request, and the load travels on an owned tractor.
Service Area, Oversized Loads, and Cross-Border Delivery
WeFab delivers fabricated steel across Ontario. Our core service area is Windsor-Essex, London, Kitchener-Waterloo, Hamilton, and the Greater Toronto Area, direct from our Leamington shop, with Ontario oversize-load permits handled in-house. US deliveries are arranged project by project through a customs broker, not on a scheduled lane.
Inside Ontario, oversized loads are permitted in-house and moved on owned step-deck and flatbed equipment, so timing stays inside WeFab’s control. Large assemblies leave through a 13 ft × 16 ft door served by the main crane; for what the shop can build and lift, see Heavy Lifting and Large-Format Capacity.
Cross-border shipping to the US works by arrangement. WeFab uses a customs broker relationship for US-Canada deliveries. It does not hold FAST or bonded carrier status, does not run scheduled US routes, and does not handle oversize permitting outside Ontario. Raise any of those needs at quote stage.

Frequently Asked Questions
Does WeFab use its own trucks or a freight broker?
WeFab uses its own trucks. The owned fleet is 4 tractors with flatbed and step-deck trailers plus a stake truck, and no freight brokers are used. Steel moves from the Leamington shop to your site without a third-party carrier in between.
Can WeFab deliver steel in erection sequence?
Yes. Loads are sequenced to match your erection order, so the first piece off the truck is the first piece set. Completed steel can wait in WeFab’s 70,000 sq ft staging yard until the site is ready for the next sequence, which helps on sites with limited laydown space.
Does WeFab ship oversized loads?
Yes, within Ontario. WeFab handles Ontario oversize-load permits in-house and ships on owned flatbed and step-deck trailers. Trucks are loaded with an 88,000 lb overhead bridge crane. Oversize permitting outside Ontario is not handled in-house, so discuss oversized US loads at quote stage.
Can WeFab deliver to the United States?
Yes, by arrangement. US deliveries go through WeFab’s customs broker relationship. WeFab does not hold FAST or bonded carrier status and does not run a scheduled US delivery lane, so cross-border shipments are planned project by project.
